Independence Network has arranged for weight trainers with the help our our aides to work with the students who can most benefit from this therapy. Weight training is beneficial to those who need to move in and out of wheelchairs or into cars or bath/shower. It helps those that are pre-diabetic to maintain better glucose levels. Better bone strength is afforded besides the gains in muscular strength. And, as with any person exercising, the cardio part of workout contributes to a better sense of well-being.
Currently, training is only once a week. IN and FINS would like to see this twice a week. if you know anyone who would like to help fund a second day, contact FINS or your teacher.
